Contest Room Security

Entrants must remove all packing containers from the contest area immediately after placing an entry. Packages and Bags are not permitted in the contest room during viewing hours.
Touching an entry is strictly prohibited.
The Contest Room will be staffed continuously during viewing & voting hours and locked down at all other times

Entry Pick Up

All entries MUST be claimed and removed from the contest room no later than 11:30 am on Saturday May 4th without exception!

The following categories are open for this years popular vote:
Locomotives (All)
Caboose
Freight Car / MOW (All)
Passenger Car
Structures (All)
Dioramas
Display Only, No Award

General Contest Rules

All models shall be built entirely by the entrant without help from any other person. Entries must be 1/64 scale and Narrow Gauge related. Display Only item any scale, but will not be eligible for awards.
Only registered Symposium attendees may submit entries.
A limit of one model may be entered for each category in the contest.
A model that has won First Place in a previous Symposium cannot be entered again.
A Structure is defined as a building with a base no larger than 1 inch beyond edge of building. Anything else is considered a Diorama.

Contest Entry and Information Forms

Each entrant must complete a Contest Entry Form for each item entered. Forms may be downloaded here.
In addition, each entrant is encouraged to provide additional information to be displayed with each entry. Please prepare this prior to arrival at the Symposium in order to expedite the receipt of entries.
Contest entrants will be responsible for placing their models on the appropriate tables. Entrants should be aware that Symposium Contest Staff may rearrange entries as needed for spacing purposes and for photographing contest winners.

Judging

Contest winners for the general contests will be selected by popular vote of registrants.
Only ballots supplied with registration packets (one per registrant) will be allowed for voting. Replacement ballots will not be supplied.
Ballot boxes will be kept under supervision in the contest room and all ballots must be submitted by 9:00pm Friday evening to count.
Awards will be presented for First, Second and Third in all categories. In addition a “Best of Show” award shall be issued separately.

Display Table

There will be a Designated Table set up for those who desire to display a model in a non-voting environment.
These items will not be included in the popular vote categories and will not receive any awards. Display Only item may be any scale.
Display Only items will be permitted on a space available basis.
